Netting, furniture, tires and other outsized items will be accepted for free at the Cordova landfill 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19. Refrigerators, freezers and hazardous waste will also be accepted for free at the city baler during the “Dump Day” event. Vehicles will not be accepted during the event.
The Dump Day event, which will allow community members to get rid of items too large to put in a dumpster, is sponsored by the Eyak Corporation. The Cordova landfill is located near the 17-mile marker on the Copper River Highway, and the city baler is located on Whitshed Road. Typically, access to the landfill is granted by appointment only.
