Interior road maintenance stations reopened

Two state road maintenance stations have reopened to improve highway safety during the winter, state officials announced on Monday, Jan. 11.

The Birch Lake station at Milepost 307 on the Richardson Highway will be operational this month. The Chitina station at Milepost 28 on the Edgerton Highway reopened on Sunday, Jan. 10, according to Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s office.

Federal Cares Act funding will be used to reopen the stations for the remainder of the current and upcoming fiscal years.
