A Wednesday, Jan. 20 clinic at Cordova Community Medical Center will allow some Alaskans age 65 and above to receive vaccinations against the novel coronavirus. Health care workers, long-term care residents and emergency medical services workers will also be eligible. Initial vaccinations will be followed up with a second dose Feb. 17. Patients must be available to receive the second dose in order to be eligible for the first round, officials said.

Anyone eligible to receive the vaccine can register by calling 907-424-3045 beginning at noon, Monday, Jan. 18, and leaving a message including their name, date of birth and phone number. Appointments will be scheduled in the order messages are received. Any messages left before noon, Jan. 18 will be discarded, officials said. After the first 100 appointment slots are filled, the next 20 callers will be put on a wait list.

Anyone selected for the clinic will receive a callback by the afternoon of Tuesday, Jan. 19. The clinic will run from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Jan. 20.

The 100 doses of Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine to be used at the clinic are expected to arrive in the coming week, officials said. The Cordova Medical Response Team has also requested a large quantity of vaccines to be administered in February. Officials will know by the end of January if this request will be filled, according to a release by the city.
