Marine safety instructor course coming to Seward

A marine safety instructor training class, featuring cold water survival procedures, use of marine safety equipment and vessel safety drills will be offered in Seward from April 19 through April 24 by the Alaska Marine Safety Education Association.

The only marine safety instructor course specific to commercial fishing that is nationally accepted by the U.S. Coast Guard. It includes practical, hands-on experience in survival equipment use and procedures.

Those who complete the course will be prepared to teach AMSEA’s U.S. Coast Guard approved fishing vessel drill conductor training, pending authorization from the Coast Guard.

Class cost is $995. Scholarships are available for qualifying commercial fishermen, thanks to support from the National Institute for Occupational safety & Health and the Coast Guard.
