Vaccines allocated for all Cordovans 65 and older

Local health care providers have been allocated enough vaccines for all Cordovans age 65 or older, as well as for all health care workers and emergency medical services workers, officials announced Thursday, Jan. 28. Eligible individuals can sign up for a Feb. 10 vaccination clinic at Cordova Community Medical Center by calling 907-424-3045, or online at www.cdvcmc.com.

In an announcement, city officials urged Cordovans to reach out to eligible neighbors and friends to help them sign up to be vaccinated.

Three hundred and 33 Cordovans have received the first in a series of two coronavirus vaccine injections, and 75 have received both injections, as of Monday, Jan. 25. 

Of the 87 local cases identified so far, three are believed to be currently active. Seventy cases have been Cordova residents and 17 have been non-residents. Three cases have required hospitalization, according to data published by Ilanka Community Health Center. One Cordova resident who was infected with the novel coronavirus died Nov. 18.

Coronavirus testing is available at ICHC, Mondays and Fridays from 2-3 p.m., and Saturdays from noon-1 p.m.; and at CCMC, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9-9:30 a.m. There may be a fee associated with testing.
