Cordova reports 1 new virus case

Cordova reported one new, travel-related, case of the novel coronavirus Tuesday, Feb. 2.

As of Monday, Feb. 1, 433 Cordovans have received the first in a series of two vaccine shots, and 75 have received both shots, according to data published by the city. Ilanka Community Health Center will host a vaccination clinic Saturday, Feb. 6 for Native Village of Eyak staff and household members 18 and older. Patients must be available March 6 to receive a second dose in order to be eligible to receive the first dose at the Feb. 6 clinic. Patients can register by calling ICHC at 907-424-3622.

Of the 88 local cases identified so far, two are believed to be currently active. Seventy-one cases have been Cordova residents and 17 have been non-residents. Three cases have required hospitalization, according to data published by ICHC. One Cordova resident who tested positive for the novel coronavirus died Nov. 18.

Coronavirus testing is available at ICHC, Mondays and Fridays from 2-3 p.m., and Saturdays from noon-1 p.m.; and at Cordova Community Medical Center, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9-9:30 a.m. There may be a fee associated with testing.
