Cordova reported two new resident novel coronavirus cases Wednesday, March 3.

Of the 114 local cases identified so far, 23 are believed to be currently active. Ninety-seven cases have been Cordova residents and 17 have been non-residents. Three cases have required hospitalization, according to data published by Ilanka Community Health Center. One Cordova resident who tested positive for the novel coronavirus died Nov. 18.

As of Monday, March 1, 721 people in Cordova have received the first of two coronavirus vaccine shots, and 433 have received both shots, according to data published by the city.

A Monday, March 1 student testing clinic was organized by ICHC and Cordova Community Medical Center. The clinic, which tested over 200 individuals, ran smoothly, said Native Village of Eyak Health and Wellness Director Kari Collins.

“At this time Alaska is leading the nation in vaccine numbers and it’s because of partnerships like the one that CCMC and ICHC have that has made that possible,” Collins wrote in an email.

Coronavirus testing is available at ICHC, Mondays and Fridays from 2-3 p.m.; and at CCMC, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9-9:30 a.m.
