Woman medevaced from northwest of Cold Bay

A woman reported to be experiencing symptoms of an allergic reaction was medevaced from a fishing vessel some 101 miles northwest of Cold Bay and transported to Cold Bay for further transport to Anchorage, the Coast Guard announced on Sunday, Feb. 28.

An Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew hoisted the 31-year-old patient aboard the American Triumph at 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27. On-scene weather at the time was 28 degrees with 29 mph winds and 10 miles visibility.

The Coast Guard had received the medevac request from Health Force Partners on behalf of the vessel. Watchstanders in Juneau directed the launch of the helicopter crew from Forward Operating Location Cold Bay.

The patient was later transported to Anchorage by a LifeMed flight team in Cold Bay.
