Law & Order: Feb. 26-March 11

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between Feb. 26-March 11. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Friday, Feb. 26
2:12 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 9:55 p.m. Three individuals came to the station to report a suspected drunk driver. An officer is currently investigating the report.

Saturday, Feb. 27
3:06 p.m. An individual came to the station to report a deposit box for a local business had been broken into. An officer is currently investigating this report. 3:55 p.m. An officer took in a dog that was loose without a collar. The dog was later returned to its owner and registered with the city.

Sunday, Feb. 28
6:17 p.m. An officer responded to a residence for follow-up on a current case. 7:01 p.m. An officer responded to a residence for follow-up on a current case. 10:07 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance and an officer responded and transported the patient to the hospital.

Monday, March 1
12:17 a.m. An officer responded for follow-up on a current case. 1:02 a.m. An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 1:27 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 4:08 p.m. Caller reported a family member making physical threats. An officer responded and arrested Michael Totemoff, age 60, of Cordova, Alaska, for assault in the 4th degree. 5:58 p.m. An officer responded to a residence to follow up on a current case. 8:00 p.m. Caller requested a welfare check. An officer responded to the residence and requested an ambulance. The ambulance transported the resident to the hospital. 11:29 p.m. An officer responded to a residence to follow up on a current case.

Tuesday, March 2
An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 8:52 a.m. An officer assisted road crews in locating registered owners of vehicles impeding snow removal. 11:48 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance and an officer responded and provided aid.

Wednesday, March 3
1:24 a.m. Caller reported they had fallen and were having difficulty getting up. An officer responded to the residence and provided assistance.

Thursday, March 4
An officer conducted a security check at the 13-mile airport. 1:32 p.m. An officer responded to residence to serve court papers. 2:06 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 3:43 p.m. An officer responded to a residence to serve court papers. 6:46 p.m. Caller reported a neighbor was making noise and scaring their dog. An officer responded and spoke with the parties involved. 8:21 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital.

Friday, March 5
9:58 a.m. An officer responded to a residence to serve court papers. 12:46 p.m. Dispatch received a 911 hang up call. An officer and a paramedic responded and rendered aid to the occupant who had called out to 911. 3:33 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport.

Saturday, March 6
8:17 a.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital. 7:37 p.m. Caller requested an ambulance. The ambulance responded and transported the patient to the hospital. 10:56 p.m. CCMC requested an ambulance for a medical transport to the 13-mile airport. An officer conducted an after-hours security check at the 13-mile airport.

Sunday, March 7
7:34 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local business. 10:52 p.m. Caller reported a domestic disturbance. An officer responded and spoke with all parties involved. 11:50 p.m. Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received an out-of-state phone call about a possible domestic disturbance ongoing in Cordova, Alaska. An officer responded to a residence to take a report from the victim. Upon investigating, three Cordova police officers responded to the residence of Sean Schittek, age 43, of Cordova, Alaska, and arrested him for assault in the 2nd degree, assault in the 3rd degree, and misconduct involving a weapon in the 4th degree.

Monday, March 8
8:05 a.m. An officer went to the Cordova Court for administrative duties. 10:03 a.m. Two officers went to a residence to follow up on a current case. 12:54 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 3:30 p.m. Schittek was arraigned on his charges and released on bail and electronic monitoring. 11:32 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local business. An officer conducted an after-hours security check at the 13-mile airport.

Tuesday, March 9
1:00 a.m. An officer conducted a security check at the U.S. Post Office. 11:55 p.m. An officer located an empty vehicle that had been involved in a motor vehicle accident and was blocking a lane of the highway. The officer had the vehicle impounded.

Wednesday, March 10
8:00 a.m. An officer performed a writ of assistance at a local residence. 1:29 p.m. An officer responded to a residence to execute a search warrant. 1:44 An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 2:31 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 3:33 p.m. Caller reported a black dog running into traffic. An officer responded, secured the dog, and spoke with the dog’s owner. 11:38 p.m. Caller reported a man stumbling and waving his hands while walking down the sidewalk. Two officers responded and assisted the man to his residence. 

Thursday, March 11
An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 1:48 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 9:01 p.m. The hospital requested an ambulance for a medical transport, the ambulance responded and conducted the transport.
