Virtual forum on federal oil and gas program set for March 25

Interior Department officials have announced a March 25 virtual public forum regarding the federal oil and gas program, with an option to submit written comments for the federal agency’s review.

The public forum is part of the department’s comprehensive review of the current federal oil and gas program as called for in Executive Order 14008.  The virtual event will feature panels highlighting the perspectives of participants including representatives of industry, labor and environmental justice organizations, natural resource advocates, indigenous organizations and other experts.

The webinar will be held on Zoom from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on March 25.

Anyone interested can register via Zoom. A livestream of the event will also be available at www.doi.gov/events.

Information gathered at the forum will be used to inform an Interior Department interim report to be completed in early summer outlining next steps and recommendations for the department and Congress to improve stewardship of public lands and waters, create jobs and to build an equitable energy future.

Public comment may also be submitted through April 15 at energyreview@ios.doi.gov.
