City steps down virus updates

The city will no longer issue daily updates on coronavirus numbers. Instead, weekly updates will be issued on Fridays, unless there is an event that warrants additional notification, officials announced April 1.

Cordova’s most recent virus case was reported March 23. As of Friday, April 2, there are no local virus cases believed to be active. As of Monday, April 5, 1,174 people in Cordova have received the first of two coronavirus vaccine shots, and 709 have received both shots, according to data published by the city.

Of the 125 local cases identified so far, 107 have been Cordova residents and 18 have been non-residents. Three cases have required hospitalization, according to data published by Ilanka Community Health Center. One Cordova resident who tested positive for the novel coronavirus died Nov. 18.
