Law & Order: April 16-22

The following incidents were reported to the Cordova Police Department between April 16-22. Any charges reported in these press releases are merely accusations and the defendant and/or defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Friday, April 16
An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 9:08 a.m. A caller requested an update regarding a complaint made the day prior. 10:07 a.m. An officer provided fingerprinting services at the station. 10:26 a.m. A caller reported of a controlled burn at their residence. 10:47 a.m. A caller reported of a controlled burn at their business. 12:12 p.m. A caller reported of locking their car keys inside their vehicle. The individual was provided a vehicle unlock device. 1:01 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 4:18 p.m. A caller reported they are across the bay having a bonfire and everything is OK. 5:12 p.m. A caller reported of their neighbor not taking responsibility of their dog constantly defecating on his property. 7:07 p.m. A caller requested to speak with an officer regarding an ongoing investigation. 7:31 p.m. An officer visited a residence to gather more information regarding an ongoing investigation. 8:09 p.m. An officer responded to a residence regarding a problematic dog.

Saturday, April 17
4:13 p.m. An officer conducted legal service of court documents. 4:24 p.m. A caller reported kids racing a four-wheeler behind the high school. An officer responded and spoke with the kids, reminding them that ATVs must be registered with the city to operate on city streets. 8:15 p.m. A caller requested an officer to assist with removing an intoxicated individual from the caller’s residence. An officer responded and provided transport for the intoxicated individual.

Sunday, April 18
12:42 p.m. An individual contacted an officer about a fight that occurred at his residence the day before. An officer spoke with all involved parties and determined no crime had taken place. 1:59 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 4:58 p.m. An officer responded to a residence for follow-up on a previous incident. 5:41 An officer responded to a residence for follow-up on a previous incident. 9:33 p.m. An officer stopped to assist a motorist parked on the side of the highway. The driver was found to be OK. 10:07 p.m. An officer returned two loose dogs to their owner’s property and reminded the owner to contain the dogs. 11:55 p.m. An officer conducted a security check on a building after finding an open door.

Monday, April 19
An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 1:30 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 10:05 p.m. An officer conducted a security check of the new harbor.

Tuesday, April 20
An officer conducted an after-hours security check of the 13-mile airport. 12:37 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 6:38 p.m. A caller reported a pallet fire in the parking lot of the Eyak boat launch, an officer responded, had the fire put out, and the nails cleaned up.

Wednesday, April 21
1:37 a.m. An officer performed a foot patrol of Jim Poor Avenue. 1:50 a.m. An officer performed a foot patrol of Main Street. 10:44 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an individual. An officer responded and found the individual to be OK. 12:54 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 2:04 p.m. An officer provided security at the 13-mile airport. 2:27 p.m. An officer performed follow-up at the Cordova Family Resource Center.

Thursday, April 22
11:59 a.m. A caller reported three bicycles missing from their storage. 1:19 p.m. An officer went to a residence to follow up on an ongoing investigation.

DMV hours
Open Tuesday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. unless otherwise posted. Payments are accepted at DMV for dog licenses, ATV/snow machine registrations, and citations. Appointments may now be scheduled online at cdv.tiny.us/dmv.
