Seafood workers sought for seasonal work

Seafood processors in partnership with the Alaska Department of Labor are recruiting for more than 1,800 full-time, temporary seafood workers for the 2021 salmon season and other fisheries, at more than 15 locations statewide.

Together they are promoting the jobs as an opportunity for workers who enjoy physical labor and who are interested in moving into skilled positions with the seafood processing companies that harvest millions of pounds of seafood annually in Alaska.

Labor Department officials said their focus is on recruiting Alaskans first.

Many of the jobs are available now and may include transportation and room and board for those who successfully complete their work contract.

Prospective applicants can contact the Anchorage Seafood Employment Office at the Midtown Job Center for assistance by calling 800-473-0688, or email dol.seafood@alaska.gov.
