Alaska Sea Grant will host the 2021 Young Fishermen’s Summit, three days of networking and skill-building, from Dec. 7-9 in Anchorage.

The annual event features participation from prominent industry leaders there to address and mentor those relatively new to the industry.

Training will focus on the land-based aspects of running a fishing business, marketing, business management, the fisheries regulatory process, and the science of fisheries management.

Field trips will include visits to management meetings, universities, laboratories, hatcheries and legislative offices, Sea Grant officials said.

Participants will also get practice in public speaking, learn how the Alaska Board of Fisheries and North Pacific Fishery Management Council operates, and collaborate on solutions to issues of importance to the Alaska fishing industry.
