Feedback sought on Great American Outdoors Act project proposals

U.S Forest Service officials for the Alaska Region are seeking comment through July 6 to guide the agency in prioritizing its next round of Great American Outdoors Act project proposals.

Regional Forester Dave Schmid said the agency values communications from the public, partners, tribal nations and Alaska Native corporations on proposals for Alaska’s national forests.

An interactive map is available at cdv.tiny.us/map with a list of current and proposed projects.

Projects funded in 2021 and those proposed for funding in the 2022 presidential budget are displayed along with the project ideas for 2023. Each 2023 project has a comment section to provide feedback. There projects range from work on cabins, campgrounds, trailheads and trails to boat ramps, marine facilities and picnic areas.
