Residents in the Cordova area have been invited to participate in a Monday, Aug. 2 hearing on the state’s financial challenges, in advance of the start of the Alaska Legislature’s next special session Aug. 7.
The public may phone in to 844-586-9085 from 6-9 p.m. to give their comments to the Comprehensive Fiscal Plan Working Group meeting at the Alaska Senate Finance Committee Room 532 in Juneau. The hearing will be steamed live at akleg.gov/index.php#tab5.
The committee has asked to hear residents’ views on how to solve the structural budget deficit, on options to protect the Permanent Fund and Dividend Program, and on potential new revenues and spending reductions.
The committee also held a livestreamed hearing in Anchorage on July 29, and will hold livestreamed hearings in Wasilla on July 30 and in Fairbanks on July 31.
