Law & Order: July 19-Aug. 1

The following is a summary of incidents that occurred or were reported to the Cordova Police Department July 19-Aug. 1, 2021. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Monday, July 19

12:38 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flights 61 and 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

8:54 p.m. An Officer and EMS responded to a report of an intoxicated individual who fell at the Little Chapel. The Officer provided this individual safe transportation to residence.

Tuesday, July 20

2:57 a.m. An Officer responded to a call at Ski Hill cabin.

3:51 a.m. EMS responded to a call at Ski Hill cabin. Patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.

5:00 a.m. Brian Tarabochia, age 36, of Cordova, Alaska, was taken into custody for DV Assault in the fourth degree.

9:15 a.m. An Officer responded to a call from a local store reporting a possibly impaired individual who left in a vehicle. The officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

12:39 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flights 61 and 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

6:02 p.m. An individual came to the station requesting a lockout kit.       

Wednesday, July 21

9:29 a.m. A caller reported a black bear cub on the individual’s porch on Timberline Drive.

10:12 a.m. Dispatch received a commercial fire alarm for Cordova Community Medical Center. Two Officers, Fire Marshal, Volunteer Fire, and EMS responded. 11:10 a.m. Fire Marshal declared, “All Clear” and returned building to the responsible party. There were no injuries.

7:27 p.m. An Officer followed up on a report of vandalism and trespassing at the old Cordova Public School building on Browning Street.

Thursday, July 22

9:43 a.m. An Officer transported two inmates to the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport to meet Anchorage Alaska State Troopers for prisoner transport.

11:30 a.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist at Mile 11 Copper River Highway.

12:13 a.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flights 61 and 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

1:09 p.m. A citizen came to the station to be fingerprinted.

2:56 p.m. A caller reported seeing a small black bear across the slough.

7:19 p.m. An Officer responded to a complaint of an aggressive large white dog. The dog-sitter regained control at the time of the Officer’s arrival. A verbal warning was issued.

11:01 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist in the alley behind the Alaskan.

11:15 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist on Mile 1 Copper River Highway.

11:58 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

Friday, July 23          

7:25 a.m. An Officer responded to a report of a woman’s purse and clothes on the ground outside her house. The officer was able to locate the owner and return the purse and clothes.

8:10 a.m. An Officer observed vandalism of street signs and reported to Dispatch.

11:46 a.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the harbor.

1:02 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

1:26 p.m. A citizen came to the station to report vandalism of street signs.

2:20 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

4:05 p.m. A resident notified Dispatch of a controlled burn.

7:46 p.m. EMS responded to a medevac transport call. Patient was transported from Cordova Community Medical Center to the airport.

8:22 p.m. A caller reported a totaled vehicle off the road at Mile 32 Copper River Highway. Dispatch notified Alaska State Troopers.

9:11 p.m. EMS responded to a medevac transport call. Patient was transported from the airport to Cordova Community Medical Center.

9:36 p.m. EMS responded to a medevac transport call. Patient was transported from Cordova Community Medical Center to the airport

10:53 p.m. EMS responded to a medevac transport call. Patient was transported from Cordova Community Medical Center to the airport.

11:17 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist at 1.2 Mile Whitshed Road.

Saturday, July 24

12:12 a.m. An Officer responded to a complaint of gun shooting in Hartney Bay subdivision.

12:48 a.m. Two Officers, Fire Marshall, and a City Shop employee responded to a 911 report of an overturned vehicle at 3.5 Mile Copper River Highway.

1:52 a.m. Marcus Cordero Torres, age 25 of Florida, was arrested for DUI.

8:16 a.m. An Officer removed stickers from a street sign.

10:39 a.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the new harbor.

12:53 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

1:27 p.m. A citizen called the station requesting to speak with an Officer.

1:48 p.m. An Officer distributed bear awareness door hangers in neighborhood(s).

2:04 p.m. Dispatch received notice Ocean Beauty will be conducting a Fire Drill.

2:22 pm. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

3:07 p.m. An Officer distributed bear awareness door hangers in neighborhood(s).

6:44 p.m. An Officer assisted with a civil standby on Front Street.

8:45 p.m. An Officer responded to a complaint at Copper River Seafoods of an individual screaming. The individual was trespassed from Copper River Seafoods.

9:56 p.m. EMS responded to a 911 call at Sunset View Apartments. The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.

11:30 p.m. A caller reported seeing a black bear in Heney Trailer Court.

Sunday, July 25

12:06 a.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

1:54 a.m. An Officer responded to a welfare check request. The Officer found the individual to be fine.

12:35 p.m. A citizen came to the station requesting a lockout kit.

1:42 p.m. EMS responded to a 911 call for an individual at Copper River Seafoods having difficulty breathing. The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.

10:54 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

Monday, July 26

1:05 a.m. An Officer responded to a call reporting possible child abuse.

6:35 a.m. An Officer responded to a complaint of a woman, possibly intoxicated, screaming, and beating on a motel door at the Prince William Motel. A disorderly conduct warning was issued to all parties.

12:39 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flights 61 and 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

1:35 p.m. EMS responded to a call from Cordova Community Medical Center for a medevac transport.

2:30 p.m. Dispatch received a request for a welfare check. Dispatch notified Alaska State Troopers.

4:49 p.m. An Officer served protective order papers.

5:27 p.m. A citizen called requesting to speak with an Officer.

5:48 p.m. EMS responded to a 911 call at Skater’s Cabin. Patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.

10:18 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

10:41 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at a local business establishment.

Tuesday, July 27

4:26 a.m. Dispatch received a dog complaint from a resident.

10:01 a.m. A citizen came to the station requesting to speak with an Officer. An Officer responded.

10:56 a.m. An individual reported to the station to update sex offender registration information.

12:42 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flights 61 and 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

5:31 p.m. A citizen came to the station requesting to speak with an Officer. An Officer responded.

7:28 p.m. An Officer responded to a complaint of an alleged intoxicated individual, who reportedly “pulled a knife.”

7:33 p.m. An Officer and EMS responded to a 911 call. The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.

Wednesday, July 28

10:07 a.m. An Officer removed stickers from street signs.

10:48 a.m. A citizen came to the station to be fingerprinted.

11:26 a.m. An Officer assisted an Alaska State Trooper. Trooper reported being stalked. The individual was trespassed.

11:34 a.m. An Officer assisted a caller needing a lockout kit who was unable to leave vehicle unattended.

12:54 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flights 61 and 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

1:37 p.m. An Officer responded to a report of a trespasser on Prince William Sound Science Center land.

8:29 p.m. Two Officers responded to a 911 call from an individual threatening to kill himself or someone. Officers brought inebriated individual into custody under Title 47.

10:26 p.m. Tsunami warning Hinchinbrook.

Thursday, July 29

12:31 a.m. Fire Marshal issued stand down.

1:02 a.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

11:08 a.m. EMS responded to a call from Cordova Community Medical Center for a medevac transport.

12:44 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

2:30 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

5:08 p.m. EMS responded to a medical transport call. Patient(s) were transported from the airport to Cordova Community Medical Center.

11:18 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist at Chase Avenue and Copper River Highway.

11:43 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

Friday, July 30

10:18 a.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the new harbor.

12:51 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

2:30 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

3:37 p.m. An Officer responded to a call reporting a brown dog walking in the middle of Mile 2 Copper River Highway.

Saturday, July 31

1:01 a.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

9:03 a.m. An Officer reported a person sleeping on the sidewalk. The person was found to be intoxicated and was able to walk home.

12:23 p.m. A citizen dropped off a wallet found on Breakwater Avenue near the Forest Service dock.

1:02 p.m. The found wallet was returned to the owner.                                                                  

2:17 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

6:02 p.m. Dispatch received a report of a speeding motorist on Whitshed Road.

10:04 p.m. An individual walking a dog screamed profanities and presented the middle finger at the dispatcher through the window.

Sunday, Aug. 1

9:48 a.m. An Officer responded to a caller’s request to check the City’s public burn pile fearing it was burning too close to trees. The officer found the fire was dying and did not pose a risk.

10:08 a.m. An individual came to the station requesting to speak with an Officer. An Officer responded.

12:47 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

3:34 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

3:40 p.m. An Officer responded to a welfare check request.

4:47 p.m. An Officer responded to a report of an individual sleeping on a bench near a community building.

6:04 p.m. A resident notified Dispatch of a controlled burn.

9:22 p.m. EMS responded to a medical transport call. Patient was transported from the airport to Cordova Community Medical Center.

10:18 p.m. An Officer responded to a welfare check request.

10:25 p.m. EMS responded to a call from Cordova Community Medical Center for a medevac transport.

11:25 p.m. Dispatch received a report of moose activity at Mile 7.5 Copper River Highway.
