Applications open for governor’s arts, humanities awards

Nominations are being accepted through Aug. 30 for the Governor’s Arts and Humanities Awards, which are to be presented in January 2022, either virtually or in person.

The awards recognize individual Alaskans and organizations for contributions to the arts and humanities that have made a lasting impact on the state’s social, economic and civil life.

The 2021 award categories for the humanities include education, leadership and community, recognizing individuals or organizations that have helped strengthen communities by contributing to a better understanding of the world and one another, through commitment to improve social, economic and civic life and by forging connections between people across racial, class and cultural divides.

The arts awards are for Alaska Native arts, individual artists, arts education, arts advocacy and outstanding arts organizations.

Award details and access to the online nomination form are available at www.akgovawards.org.
