Law & Order: Aug. 16-22

The following is a summary of incidents that occurred or were reported to the Cordova Police Department Aug. 16-22, 2021. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Monday, Aug. 16

3:23 a.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a medevac transport call. The patient was transported from Cordova Community Medical Center to the airport.

7:13 a.m. An Officer and the Emergency Medical Services team responded to a 911 call at Trident Seafoods.

10:16 a.m. Wesley Woods, age 32, of Cordova, Alaska, reported to the station to serve 20 days for conviction of DUI.

12:28 p.m. An Officer responded to a welfare check request. The Officer found the individual to be fine.

Tuesday, Aug. 17

10:05 a.m. Dispatch received a report of an alleged phone scam.

3:02 p.m. An Officer responded to a welfare check request at Sunset View Apartments. The Officer found the individual to be fine.

3:09 p.m. An Officer and the Fire Marshal responded to a report of a rotten tree in the middle of Whitshed Road by the Marina.

4:03 p.m. The Fire Marshal responded to a report of a fuel spill on Mile 1 Whitshed Road. The Fire Marshal reported no appreciable quantity.

11:39 p.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a call at Trident Seafoods. The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.

Wednesday, Aug. 18

9:23 a.m. Dispatch received a report from a caller using binoculars who sighted a boat that looked like smoke was coming out of it with no visible flames.

1:19 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

2:24 p.m. An Officer and the K9 Officer, Eyak, performed training exercises at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

2:44 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

3:50 p.m. An Officer issued a citation to a motorist at Mile 11 Copper River Highway.

3:56 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist at Mile 9 Copper River Highway.

10:41 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

Thursday, Aug. 19

12:17 p.m. An Officer and the Emergency Medical Services team responded to a 911 report of an individual who may have passed out while walking a dog on a leash across from the Cordova Jr./Sr. High School.

12:18 p.m. Dispatch received a report of an individual who may have passed out while walking a dog on a leash along Second Street and Copper River Highway.

12:30 p.m. Dispatch received a 911 report of an individual screaming and yelling walking a dog on Whitshed Road.

12:34 p.m. The Officer made contact with the individual and provided safe transportation to the individual’s place of residence, advising Dispatch that Emergency Medical Services team may stand down.

2:21 p.m. An Officer responded to a call from Mt. Eccles Elementary School reporting a black bear in front of the school.

5:02 p.m. Dispatch received a complaint of a truck with an obscenity regarding Biden on it.

8:13 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist at Railroad and Breakwater Avenue.

8:43 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the New Harbor.

9:22 p.m. An Officer responded to a report of an individual yelling from the apartments by the hospital.

10:59 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist on Council Avenue.

Friday, Aug. 20

12:13 a.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

4:10 a.m. Dispatch received a 911 call from the Alaska Expedition Camp. The United States Coast Guard, the Alaska State Troopers, the Fire Marshal, and the Emergency Medical Services team responded. The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center via United States Coast Guard helicopter.

8:49 a.m. An Officer responded to a report of a black bear near the Trident Seafoods Bunkhouse.

9:12 a.m. An Officer responded to a 911 report of a black bear walking across parking lot of 60* North Seafoods.

12:18 p.m. An Officer issued a civil non-expiring trespass on an individual, per request of property owner.

12:23 p.m. An Officer issued a civil non-expiring trespass on an individual, per request of property owner.

1:19 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

2:44 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

4:34 p.m. An Officer responded to a 911 report of an individual passed out by The Reluctant Fisherman Inn. The individual was able to leave the premises unaided.

8:22 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist on Whitshed Road.

9:54 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.

10:07 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist at Chase Avenue and Copper River Highway.

10:38 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.

11:42 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

Saturday, Aug. 21

12:38 a.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist at LeFevre and Lake Avenue.

2:09 a.m. An Officer issued a citation to a motorist at Council and Railroad Avenue.

2:39 a.m. An Officer issued a citation and a warning to a motorist at Chase Avenue and Copper River Highway.

6:06 a.m. Dispatch received a 911 call from a boat located in the Lucky Bay. Dispatch contacted Coast Guard Sector Anchorage, on-duty Officer.

1:34 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

2:49 p.m. An Officer and the K9 Officer, Eyak, performed training exercises at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

2:56 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

3:15 p.m. A citizen reported a broken sewer line on West Davis Avenue. Dispatch contacted the Water Department.

7:30 p.m. An Officer issued a warning at Chase Avenue and Copper River Highway.

10:43 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Eyak River Boat Launch.

10:59 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.

11:10 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.

11:47 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

Sunday, Aug. 22

6:42 a.m. A caller reported a large black bear walking in the middle of Hollis Henrich’s Park.

9:25 a.m. A caller reported a black bear walking past Baja Taco heading onto the path behind the Bob Korn Memorial Pool.

12:48 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

4:38 p.m. A resident notified Dispatch of a controlled burn.

8:29 p.m. An Officer responded to a domestic issue.
