Alaska Airlines resumes ‘freight for less’ perk

Alaska Airlines has re-launched its Club 49 Freight for Less program, allowing Alaska residents who are Club 49 members to ship up to 100 pounds of freight through Alaska Air Cargo to communities statewide.

Freight for Less was paused in late 2019, while repairs were made to barrier walls in the Alaska Air Cargo’s 737 freighter fleet. With all repairs completed, the program resumed on Sept. 1.

Airline spokespersons said the program is being streamlined with simplified pricing, to make it easier for Club 49 members to quickly ship freight at any point during the year.

Club 49 is an exclusive program for Alaska residents, with benefits also including two free checked bags to or from Alaska, two discount codes annually, weekly fare sales for Alaskans and the ability to ship up to 100 pounds through Freight for Less for $49 plus tax.
