Law & Order: Aug. 13-29

The following is a summary of incidents that occurred or were reported to the Cordova Police Department Aug. 23-29, 2021. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Monday, Aug. 23

9:35 a.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a 911 call at Copper River Seafoods. The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.

12:48 p.m. A citizen came to the station to be fingerprinted.

12:52 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flights 61 and 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

Tuesday, Aug. 24

9:47 a.m. An Officer, the Emergency Medical Services team, and the Fire Department responded to a 911 call at Eyak Boat Launch. The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.

10:48 a.m. Dispatch received a 911 call from an owner of a residential business whose property was suddenly flooding.

12:09 p.m. A citizen came to the station to be fingerprinted.

12:36 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flights 61 and 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

1:43 p.m. A citizen came to the station to be fingerprinted.

2:59 p.m. A citizen came to the station to be fingerprinted.

5:56 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.

7:13 p.m. A caller reported a bear by Cedar Street.

10:15 p.m. A caller reported a bear in the caller’s yard.

Wednesday, Aug. 25

7:55 a.m. A citizen reported their vehicle broken down on Copper River Highway.

8:45 a.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Cordova Junior/Senior High School.

9:02 a.m. An Officer conducted a security check at Mt. Eccles Elementary School.

10:47 a.m. A citizen reported their broken-down vehicle on Copper River Highway was hit.

11:07 a.m. An Officer canvassed residences regarding bear(s) in the area.

12:38 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

12:52 p.m. An Officer responded to a report from Mt. Eccles Elementary School of a bear in the woods behind the playground.

2:09 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

3:30 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist at 6.5 and Copper River Highway.

8:01 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist at Chase Avenue and Copper River Highway.

10:47 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist at Mile 4 and Copper River Highway.

11:05 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.

Thursday, Aug. 26

12:20 a.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

8:19 a.m. An Officer conducted School Zone speed enforcement.

8:27 a.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist in the school zone.

8:46 a.m. A resident contacted Dispatch regarding disposal of ammunition.

8:50 a.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist in the school zone.

9:01 a.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist in the school zone.

9:29 a.m. Dispatch received a report of a vehicle hit in a trailer park.

9:57 a.m. A caller reported two bears on Young Drive.

1:03 p.m. Dispatch received an alarm for the Bob Korn Memorial Swimming Pool. This was a false alarm.

1:11 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

4:06 p.m. An Officer responded to a report of a motorist driving erratically on Main Street.

7:15 p.m. An Officer responded to a commercial alarm for Trident North. The responsible party was contacted. This was a false alarm.

7:33 p.m. An Officer responded to a 911 call from an individual requesting to be arrested.

8:29 p.m. Dispatch received a report of burnout marks.

9:40 p.m. An Officer brought an individual into custody under Title 47 after having been cleared by a doctor at Cordova Community Medical Center.

10:18 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist on Railroad Avenue.

Friday, Aug. 27

1:56 a.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

8:15 a.m. An Officer conducted School Zone speed enforcement.

8:21 a.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist in the school zone.

8:29 a.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist in the school zone.

8:42 a.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist on Railroad Avenue and Copper River Highway.

8:46 a.m. An Officer responded to a report of blowing debris by the new construction zone in Fleming Cove area (aka Shelter Cove/Hippie Cove.)

9:56 a.m. An Officer reported to Dispatch going out to conduct follow-up investigation on a case.

11:02 a.m. An Officer and an Alaska Wildlife Trooper responded to a report of a bear behind Bidarki.

12:06 p.m. A citizen came to the station to drop off ammunition for disposal.

12:43 p.m. An Officer issued a citation to a resident for negligently leaving garbage in a manner that attracts bears.

1:06 p.m. A citizen came to the station to report son being assaulted on a fishing vessel. The citizen was advised to speak to the Alaska State Troopers.

1:24 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

2:07 p.m. A citizen reported their vehicle broken down on Copper River Highway.

2:12 p.m. An Officer and the K9 Officer, Eyak, performed training exercises at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

2:46 p.m. A citizen came to the station to be fingerprinted.

2:51 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

4:36 p.m. Two Officers responded to a report of a bear by Shoreside Petroleum Gas Station.

6:20 – 7:32 p.m. An Officer canvassed residences regarding garbage cans attracting bears.

11:22 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.

11:48 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.

Saturday, Aug. 28

12:15 a.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist at Second Avenue and Copper River Highway.

12:28 a.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

1:38 a.m. An Officer and the Emergency Medical Services team responded to a 911 call on Center Drive. The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.

3:29 a.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the United States Postal Service.

3:57 a.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a 911 call on Boardwalk Way. The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.

7:12 a.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a medevac transport call. The patient was transported from Cordova Community Medical Center to the airport.

9:36 a.m. An Officer responded to a citizen’s complaint of a parking violation.

12:42 p.m. A citizen reported their broken-down vehicle on Copper River Highway was hit and vandalized. 12:58 p.m. An Officer responded.

2:07 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist on Second Street and Copper River Highway.

2:22 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

4:41 p.m. Dispatch received a report of a small bear by apartments.

7:19 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the New Harbor.

10:27 p.m. An Officer and a City Shop employee responded to a report of an overturned truck in the lake at Power Creek. [No individuals were in the vehicle.]

10:32 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist at Mile 5 Whitshed Road.

Sunday, Aug. 29

12:44 a.m. An Officer conducted a security check at a local establishment. 12:48 a.m. The Officer provided a patron safe transportation to the individual’s place of residence. 12:52 a.m. The Officer returned to resume security check, advising Dispatch that if reports are made of people lying down in front of the establishment, the Officer had already spoken with the sprawling individuals, and they are fine.

1:01 a.m. The Officer provided a second patron safe transportation to the individual’s place of residence.

1:43 a.m. Dispatch received a 911 call reporting loud music being played in cars.

12:50 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flights 61 and 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

4:06 p.m. A resident contacted Dispatch inquiring if one may operate All-Terrain Vehicles on the Copper River Highway.

6:53 p.m. An Officer responded to a 911 call of an individual needing assistance.

9:40 p.m. Two Officers responded to a 911 report of windows being knocked out of the caller’s truck.
