Obituary: LeRoy ‘Max’ Harris

LeRoy 'Max' Harris

Clam Gulch resident, LeRoy “Max” Harris, 64, passed away Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021, at Central Peninsula Hospital after battling cancer.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Decanter Inn, Mile 107 Sterling Hwy, Kasilof. 

Max was born Aug. 20, 1957, in Cordova, Alaska.  He worked for Carlile Trucking and Laidlaw.  
Max was baptized in the Cordova Baptist Church.  He enjoyed ice racing and internet racing.

His family wrote, “Max loved fishing and hunting. He started fishing with his father when he was just 9. He fished in Chignik, Cordova and Kodiak. He joined the Kenai Peninsula Ice Racing Assoc. in 1993 and raced at the Decanter Inn. Max and his wife were married 43 years, being high school sweethearts. He also loved his 4 children and grandchildren.”

Max was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy F. Harris.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa M. Harris of Clam Gulch; son, Kenny Harris of Kasilof; daughter, Brandie Reid of Kasilof; sons, Charles Harris of Kasilof and Terry Harris of Clam Gulch; mom, Donna Harris of Washington; brothers, Rocky Harris of Cordova and Darwin Harris of Wasilla; sisters, Donni Harris of Anchorage, Tawni Harris and Ruby Strand, both of Washington.

Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
