WRST Subsistence Resource Commission meets Oct. 5-6

The Wrangell-St. Elias Subsistence Resource Commission will consider issues related to subsistence hunting and fishing in Wrangell St. Elias National Park and Preserve when it meets via teleconference from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5, and Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. until end of business.

If business is completed on the first day, the meeting will adjourn and not reconvene the next day.

The public is encouraged to participate with comments on proposals to change federal subsistence hunting and trapping regulations, proposals to change state hunting and trapping regulations, and on an individual customary and traditional use determination for salmon at Batzulnetas.

The Federal Subsistence Board’s deferral of a proposal to create a dip-net fishery for salmon in the lower Copper River will also be discussed.

Written comments must be emailed to WRST_subsistence@nps.gov by 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1 for presentation at the meeting.
