Christmas ornament auction

The Hospital Auxiliary will be holding a Christmas ornament auction again this year. Ornament donations can be dropped off at the CCMC Pharmacy by Nov. 3 or mailed to Vivian Knop at PO Box 2165, Cordova, AK 99574. The auction will begin shortly thereafter. Questions, call 907-424-8272.

Clothing giveaway

St. Joseph’s Catholic Church is collecting winter coats, hats, gloves, boots, and other winter items for a giveaway that will take place Saturday, Nov. 6. Children’s items are especially needed. Drop off clean items in the box outside the church by Nov. 5.

Opening reception

The Copper River Gallery is hosting an opening reception for Denis Keogh’s recent artwork from 5 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 5.

Royal Wood

Cordova Arts & Pageants presents an evening with singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Royal Wood at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8 at the North Star Theater. Proof of COVID vaccination or negative test at the door is required for entry.

Call for artists

The Cordova Museum is preparing for their annual Holiday Art Show. Drop off art submissions in the theme of “Sheridan Glacier” by Tuesday, Nov. 30. Show will open Dec. 3 and will remain up through Jan. 29. For more info, call 907-424-6665.

The Catch

The Catch, Cordova’s emerging literary and arts publication, is accepting submissions for its winter issue until Dec. 15. The theme is “tracks.” Submissions are open to all ages and may be made in any medium. Contact jillian.cordovapubliclibrary@gmail.com.

Morning music

Join local musicians every Friday from 8 to 8:40 a.m. at Mt. Eccles Elementary School for Morning Music. The new 4H music curriculum with song videos, songbook and fiddle tab is available as a free download at www.cordovamusiccamp.org. Cordova 4H also has ukuleles, tuners and soft padded ukulele cases available for purchase. If you’d like to borrow an instrument, contact Karen Swartzbart at 907-253-3421.

Weir survey

The Copper River Watershed is welcoming feedback and thoughts on future repair and use of the Eyak Lake weir. To participate in the survey, visit www.cdv.tiny.us/weir.

Local recycling

Fishing web, free of cork and lead line, can be dropped off in the fishing web recycling container at the Cordova City Baler. Lead acid battery recycling is located behind the NVE building on Nicholoff Way. Small batteries can be recycled at the Post Office. Storytime for Little Ones

Food Pantry

The Salvation Army food pantry is located at 514 First St. Primary distribution is the third Monday of each month from 4-6 p.m. If you need food assistance or are interested in volunteering, please contact Katherine Mead at 907-429-7177. Non-perishable food donations can be dropped in the donation box at AC Value Center.

Cordova Public Library

COVID-19 Vaccine Sign-Up

All Cordovans who want to receive the COVID-19 vaccine are asked to register at CDVCMC.com or call 907-424-3045. If registered, you will receive a call to set up an appointment as soon as you are eligible, and the vaccine is available.
