UFA selects Welch as executive director

Veteran commercial fisheries harvester Tracy Welch has been selected by the board of United Fishermen of Alaska to serve as the new executive director of the statewide commercial fishing trade association.

Welch previously served as the tribal administrator for the Petersburg Indian Association, where she oversaw all tribal programs and staff. A lifelong Alaskan, Welch grew up fishing in Southeast Alaska gillnet and longline fisheries with her family and is now co-owner of the F/V Dream Chaser.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in political science and German. She earned a law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law and is licensed to practice law in the state of Oregon.
