Law & Order: Nov. 22-Dec.5

The following is a summary of incidences that occurred or were reported to the Cordova Police Department Nov. 22 through Dec. 5, 2021. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Monday, November 22:

2:55 a.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a 9-1-1 call at Heney Trailer Court. The Patient was transported to the Cordova Community Medical Center.

12:54 p.m. Dispatch received a report of an alleged Identity Theft.

2:31 p.m. Apple and pumpkin pies were brought to the station and distributed to the Police, Dispatch, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services team, courtesy of Toni Perry. Thank you, Toni!

2:34 p.m. An officer reported an abandoned, disabled vehicle at Mile 2 Power Creek Road.

Tuesday, November 23:

12:23 p.m. An officer responded to a report of a reckless driver on Whitshed Road.

12:40 p.m. An officer conducted security surveillance for flights 61 and 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

2:20 p.m. A resident came to the station to be fingerprinted.

2:37 p.m. A resident called the station requesting to speak with an Officer.

6:06 p.m. An officer responded to a Welfare Check request.

6:06 p.m. Amy Brockert, age 54, of Cordova, Alaska, reported to the station to serve seven days for conviction of Driving While License Revoked (DWLR).

Wednesday, November 24:

12:24 a.m. Dispatch received a report of a runaway dog. 8:52 a.m. The caller asked if the dog had been turned in to the station. 9:36 a.m. The caller reported to Dispatch that the dog was found.

12:11 p.m. An officer responded to a report of an alleged reckless driver on Orca Road. 

12:34 p.m. An officer issued a warning to a motorist at Mile 1.5 Copper River Highway.

12:48 p.m.  An officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

4:32 p.m. A motorist reported their vehicle broken down at Lake Avenue and Second Street. An officer responded, finding the owner had left the vehicle. The officer was able to start the vehicle and move it out of the roadway. Dispatch notified the owner of the location.

10:43 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.

11:57 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

Thursday, November 25:

11:39 a.m. A resident came to the station to borrow a vehicle lockout kit.

3:24 a.m. An officer responded to a Welfare Check request at Sunset View Apartments. The individual was fine.

7:19 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.

11:48 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

Friday, November 26:

9:01 a.m. An officer issued a lockout kit to motorist at Cordova Mews Apartments.

10:57 a.m. An officer issued a lockout kit to a motorist on upper Davis Avenue.

2:46 p.m. An officer responded to a report of an alleged stolen pistol. 

2:46 p.m. Dispatch received a 911 report of a stolen vehicle at the United States Postal Service building. 2:27 p.m. The caller then said, “Never mind.” 

11:54 p.m. A resident alerted Dispatch of caller’s address for an Officer Civil Standby request.

Saturday, November 27:

9:54 a.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist on Browning Avenue and First Street.

12:31 p.m.  An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K Mudhole Smith Airport.

1:01 p.m. A motorist reported their vehicle parked at the Mt. Eccles Elementary School due to slippery road conditions.  The owner will move it later. 

1:22 p.m. An Officer and the K9 Officer, Eyak, performed training exercises in the Merle K Mudhole Smith Airport.

3:54 p.m. Two Officers responded to a 911 report of a potential break-in on Whitshed Road.  The Officers reported no crime was committed. 

8:03 p.m. An officer issued a warning to a motorist on Adams Avenue.

8:35 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.

9:57 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.

Sunday, November 28:

12:06 a.m. An officer conducted a security check at the Merle K Mudhole Smith Airport.

12:29 p.m. The City Streets department responded to a request for plowing at Alpine Falls Circle. 1:26 p.m. An officer conducted security surveillance for flights 61 and 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

Monday, November 29:

11:56 a.m. An officer placed an impound warning sticker on a vehicle parked on Water Street.  A notice of abandonment was sent to the registered owner.

3:40 p.m. An officer placed an impound warning sticker on a vehicle parked on Jim Poor Avenue. A notice of abandonment was sent to the registered owner.

Tuesday, November 30:

9:46 a.m. Dispatch received a report of a dead moose that a bear has almost buried at Mile 20.

10:04 a.m. The City Streets Department responded to a request for winter road maintenance by the Cordova Mews Apartments.

12:28 p.m. An officer conducted security surveillance for flights 61 and 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

5:39 p.m. Charlie Hodsdon, 22, of Cordova, Alaska, reported to the station to serve three days for conviction of Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

11:53 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.

Wednesday, December 1:

12:34 a.m. An officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

9:25 a.m. Dispatch received a request for a welfare check at the Cordova Mews Apartments. 

10:58 a.m. The Fire Marshal responded with the Alaska State Troopers to a motorist assist call on Mile 4.5 Copper River Highway.

11:16 a.m. A resident came to the station to speak with an officer.

12:26 p.m. The City Streets Department responded to a request for winter road maintenance on Alpine Falls Circle Road.

12:51 p.m. The Fire Marshal and the Alaska State Troopers reported being clear of the scene at Mile 4.5 Copper River Highway.

1:32 p.m. An officer responded to a request for service of civil papers.

4:09 p.m. A resident called the station to speak with an officer.

4:57 p.m. A resident called the station to speak with an officer.

5:42 p.m. An officer responded to a commercial burglar alarm at First National Bank Alaska.  The responsible party was notified. 6:04 p.m. The officer reported no forced entry and declared the scene to be clear. The alarm was reset by bank staff.

6:48 p.m. An officer served civil papers.

6:52 p.m. An officer served court papers.

8:37 p.m. An officer responded to a resident’s request for assistance at Lake Avenue.

9:02 p.m. A resident called the station requesting to speak with an officer.

10:25 p.m. A resident came to the station to borrow a vehicle lockout kit.

11:11 p.m. An officer served civil papers.

Thursday, December 2:

1:33 a.m. An officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

10:56 a.m. A resident came to the station to speak with an officer.

11:14 a.m. A resident came to the station to speak with an officer.

12:47 p.m. An officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

2:01 p.m. An officer and the K-9 officer, Eyak, performed training exercises at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

2:38 p.m. An officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

3:07 p.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a 911 call at the Alaska Commercial Company. The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.

3:49 p.m. A resident notified dispatch of a controlled burn.

4:49 p.m. A resident called the station to speak with an officer.

11:24 p.m. Two officers responded to a 911 report of an assault in progress.

Friday, December 3:

12:45 a.m. Eric Nuglene, 22, of Cordova, Alaska, was arrested for Domestic Violence Assault in the 4th Degree.

12:28 p.m. An officer responded to a report of a reckless driver on Main Street.

2:01 p.m. A resident called the station requesting to speak with an officer.

4:52 p.m. A resident came to the station to speak with an officer.

9:54 p.m. An officer conducted a security check at a local establishment.

Saturday, December 4:

1:00 p.m. An officer conducted security surveillance for flights 61 and 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

3:35 p.m. An officer responded to a report of a reckless driver on Copper River Highway.

4:07 p.m. Dispatch received a report of a deer carcass at Mile 8 Copper River Highway.

9:59 p.m. Two officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a local establishment. The individual was escorted from the premises. 

11:22 p.m. An officer responded to a Welfare Check request on Chase Avenue.

Sunday, December 5:

11:56 a.m. An officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

2:49 p.m. An officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

3:39 p.m. The City Streets Department responded to a request for winter road maintenance on Highland Drive.

3:47 p.m. The City Streets Department responded to a request for winter road maintenance on Browning Avenue.

4:00 p.m. The City Streets Department responded to a request for winter road maintenance at Mt. Eyak Ski Area.
