
Mt. Eyak Torchlight Parade
The annual torchlight parade and firework show will begin 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at Mt. Eyak Ski Area, weather permitting. Come ring in the New Year with Cordova’s family-friendly celebration. Enjoy the rope-tow, a bonfire and warming hut will be open. Follow Mt. Eyak Ski Area’s Facebook page at facebook.com/MtEyak.
Poetry Competition
Open to community-recognized members of tribal nations within the United States and its trust territories. Two winners of the James Welch Prize, an award for indigenous poets, will be awarded for outstanding poems, each winning $1,000, publication in Poetry Northwest Magazine, and an all-paid trip to read with the judges in Seattle. Snowman Competition
Bring your loved ones out to build a snowman behind the Cordova Community Medical Center then take a photo and tag the hospital on Facebook or email your photo to Faith at faithwj@cdvcmc.com. One winner will be selected at the beginning of each month to receive a prize.

Morning Music
Join local musicians for Morning Music every Friday from 8-8:40 a.m. at Mt. Eccles Elementary School. The 4H music curriculum with song videos, songbook and fiddle tab is available as a free download at cordovamusiccamp.org. The Salvation Army food pantry is located at 514 First St. Primary distribution is 4-6 p.m. the third Monday of each month.
