Law & Order: Dec. 6-26

The following is a summary of incidences that occurred or were reported to the Cordova Police Department Dec. 6 through Dec. 26, 2021. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Monday, December 6:

6:05 p.m. Two Officers, a United States Forest Service Officer, and the City Shop responded to a 911 report of a motor vehicle accident at Whitshed Road and Copper River Highway. A driver was issued a summons for No Motor Vehicle Insurance.

9:41 p.m. An Officer responded to a report of a motorist in distress on Main Street.

Tuesday, December 7:

Nothing to report.

Wednesday, December 8:

11:53 a.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a 911 call on Pipe Street.  The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.

Thursday, December 9:

7:59 a.m. Dispatch received a report that private companies as well as private citizens have been illegally dumping snow on State owned sidewalks and city properties.

Friday, December 10:

10:38 a.m. Dispatch received a report of a vessel listing to one side.  Dispatch notified the Harbor Master. 

2:19 p.m. An Officer responded to a 911 report of a dog on Copper River Highway that was almost hit.

7:47 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist on Breakwater and Railroad Avenue.

8:12 p.m. An Officer issued a warning to a motorist on South Second Street.

10:48 p.m. An Officer reported location to Dispatch as Orca Avenue attempting to capture two dogs.  The Officer was successful in catching one dog delivering it to its home, while the second dog left the area and returned home.

Saturday, December 11:

1:06 p.m. An Officer responded to a 911 report of a possible trespassing incident on Prince William Marina Road.  The Officer did not find anything suspicious or any sign of entry.

1:33 p.m. An Officer reported to Dispatch sighting three dogs running loose on Prince William Marina Road.  The Officer caught one dog and delivered it to its owner.  The second dog returned home on its own.  The Officer reported the third dog charging at an individual, barking at and chasing vehicles including the Officer’s patrol vehicle, and charging at the Officer.  The Officer issued a Citation to the owner.   

Sunday, December 12:

4:46 a.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a 911 call at Mile 5.5 Copper River Highway.  The patient refused transportation to Cordova Community Medical Center.

9:32 a.m. The Emergency Medical Services team, the Fire Marshal, and an Alaska Wildlife Trooper responded to a 911 report of an accidental shooting on a boat.  Responders met the patient at the boat ramp at the New Harbor on Nicholoff Way. The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.

2:23 p.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a medivac transport call.  The patient was transported from Cordova Community Medical Center to the airport.

Monday, December 13:

10:53 a.m. Dispatch received a report of illegal dumping in the United States Coast Guard Air Station dumpster.   

2:46 p.m. Dispatch received a report of a yellow Labrador Retriever on Lake Avenue “almost causing a 3-car pile-up.” 

Tuesday, December 14:

12:14 p.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a medivac transport call.  The patient was transported from Cordova Community Medical Center to the airport.

14:32 p.m. Dispatch received a report of a dog in Nichols’ Front Door Store. 

2:38 p.m. An Officer responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Railroad Avenue. 

Wednesday, December 15:

Nothing to report.

Thursday, December 16:

12:34 p.m. An Officer reported to Dispatch multiple dogs chasing vehicles on Whitshed Road.

2:05 a.m. An Officer issued a Citation to a motorist at Whitshed Road and Copper River Highway.

5:44 p.m. An Officer, the Volunteer Fire Department, and the Emergency Medical Services team responded to a 911 call on Fifth Street. The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.

Friday, December 17:

7:59 a.m. An Officer patrolled Mt. Eccles Elementary School and the Cordova Jr/Sr High School. 

1:01 p.m. A wallet was turned in to the station’s lost and found.

3:08 p.m. After providing exact description, the wallet was returned to its rightful owner

7:44 p.m. An Officer issued a Citation to a motorist on Main Street.

8:02 p.m. An Officer reported trying to catch a loose dog on Chase Ave.

Saturday, December 18:

4:26 p.m. An Officer, the Volunteer Fire Department, and the Emergency Medical Services team responded to a report of a deceased individual on Marina Road.

Sunday, December 19:

3:23 p.m. An Officer reported to Dispatch location as Merle K Mudhole Smith Airport parking lot providing motorist assistance. 

Monday, December 20:

6:00 a.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a medivac transport call.  The patient was transported from Cordova Community Medical Center to the airport.

Tuesday, December 21:

Nothing to report.

Wednesday, December 22:

Nothing to report.

Thursday, December 23:

9:18 a.m. Dispatch received a report of a motor vehicle accident on Second Street.

Friday, December 24:

Nothing to report.

Saturday, December 25:

Nothing to report.

Sunday, December 26:

5:59 p.m. An Officer responded to a report of a moving vehicle with no headlights on Copper River Highway.
