Grand Igloo president visits Cordova

The installation of officers for Pioneer Igloos #5 and #19 of Cordova took place Jan. 17, led by Virgil Campbell, president of the Grand Igloo, Pioneers of Alaska, assisted by his wife, Dawn.

Cordova #5 officers installed were Torie Baker, Sharon Ermold, Mazie VanDenBroek and Cece Wiese. Cordova #19 officers installed were Past Grand President Jim Casement, Sherman Dixon, Greg LoForte, Dennis Marchant, Troy Tirrell, Butch West, John P. Wiese and Max Wiese.

The evening began with a potluck and reconnecting with Dawn Campbell, formerly Dawn Burch, CHS class of 1975. The next day the Campbells continued traveling throughout the state, installing officers at the several Pioneer groups.

The Pioneers of Alaska was formed to preserve the literature and history of Alaska and promote the best interests of Alaska. Pioneers are an active and vibrant part of their communities. Cordova Pioneers offer scholarship awards, community events, social activities and participate in preserving local history and volunteer for service projects.
