Law & Order: Jan. 24-Feb. 6

The following is a summary of incidences that occurred or were reported to the Cordova Police Department January 24 through February 6, 2022. Defendant(s) are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Monday, January 24:

7:58 a.m. An officer responded to a noise complaint.

1:23 p.m. The Fire Department responded to a report of an oil spill on Whitshed Road. The responsible party was also contacted and confirmed the issue is being taken care of.

1:44 p.m. An officer responded to a noise complaint.

Tuesday, January 25:

7:43 p.m. An officer responded to a report of an overturned vehicle off the road at the lower end of Railroad Row.

Wednesday, January 26:

7:15 a.m. An officer returned to the scene of the overturned vehicle off the road at the lower end of Railroad Row. The City Shop was notified and pulled the vehicle out of the ditch.

8:08 a.m. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.

Thursday, January 27:

7:07 a.m. An officer responded to a motorist assist call at Mile 3 Copper River Highway.

12:33 p.m. An officer issued a warning to a motorist at Mile 13 Copper River Highway.

Friday, January 28:

10:52 p.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a medivac transport call. The patient was transported from Cordova Community Medical Center to the airport.

Saturday, January 29:

8 a.m. An officer was dispatched to 608 First Street, Laura’s Liquor Shoppe, where the complainant reported the front door to be “busted in.” The investigation revealed this was a burglary and the offenders were juvenile. Charges have been forwarded to the Office of Juvenile Justice.

Sunday, January 30:

1:52 p.m. An officer trespassed an individual from a local establishment.

Monday, January 31:

3:27 a.m. The Fire Department responded to a report of a heater smoking with a strong fuel odor. No fire ensued.

2:12 p.m. Two officers, the Fire Department, and the Emergency Medical Services Team responded to a 911 report of a hit and run motor vehicle accident on the corner of Copper River Highway and Second Street. A passenger was transported to the Cordova Community Medical Center. 

3:35 p.m. Andrew Johnson, age 34, of Cordova, Alaska, was arrested for Assault in the Third Degree.

Friday, February 4:

Nothing to report.

Saturday, February 5:

9:32 a.m. An officer issued a warning to an individual on Orca Road.

Sunday, February 6:

9:34 a.m. An officer issued a warning to a motorist.

12:52 p.m. An officer, a United States Forest Service Trooper, and an Alaska Wildlife Trooper responded to a report of an ongoing dispute at a residence on Seventh Street.

11:15 p.m. An officer responded to a report of harassment.
