The following is a summary of incidences that occurred or were reported to the Cordova Police Department Feb. 28 through March 6. Defendant(s) are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Monday, February 28:

  • 8:16 a.m. An Officer reported current location as Council Avenue. Someone was “going around hitting cones again last night.”
  • 8:24 a.m. An Officer conducted security and traffic patrol at the Cordova Jr/Sr High School.
  • 8:44 a.m. An Officer conducted security and traffic patrol at the Mt. Eccles Elementary School.
  • 9:23 a.m. An Officer conducted security and traffic patrol at the Mt. Eccles Elementary School.
  • 2:03 p.m. An Officer issued a Citation to a motorist at Railroad Avenue and Main Street.
  • 2:20 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.
  • 2:24 p.m. A resident came to the station to speak with an Officer.
  • 6:50 p.m. An Officer went out on general patrol.
  • 9:40 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

Tuesday, March 1:

  • 8:35 a.m. An Officer conducted security and traffic patrol at the Mt. Eccles Elementary School.
  • 8:45 a.m. An Officer conducted security and traffic patrol at the Cordova Jr/Sr High School.
  • 11:42 a.m. The Fire Department and the Emergency Medical Services Team responded to a 911 report of a fire on the fuel dock. There were no injuries. 12:22 p.m. Responders cleared the scene.
  • 12:01 p.m. An Officer responded to a report of suspicious contents found in a clear bag on Main Street. The substance was determined to be canine fecal matter.
  • 12:25 p.m. An Officer responded to a Welfare Check request at Sunset View Apartments.
  • 12:40 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.
  • 2:29 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.
  • 6:41 p.m. An Officer responded to an anonymous tip.
  • 10:56 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.
  • 11:21 p.m. An Officer conducted a security check at the Alaska Marine Highway System’s Ferry Terminal.

Wednesday, March 2:

  • 1:53 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.
  • 2:44 p.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a medivac transport call. The patient was transported from Cordova Community Medical Center to the airport.
  • 9:17 p.m. Two Officers responded to a report of a reckless driver on Orca Road.
  • 10:30 p.m. Two Officers conducted a security check at the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

Thursday, March 3:

  • 12:50 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flights 61 and 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

Friday, March 4:

  • 7:20 a.m. Dispatch received a noise complaint regarding the Refuse Department going through a neighborhood too early.
  • 8:41 a.m. An Officer responded to a Welfare Check request. The individual was found to be fine.
  • 12:47 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.
  • 2:16 p.m. An Officer responded to a Commercial Burglar Alarm on Copper River Highway. The building was secure.
  • 2:22 p.m. An Officer issued a Citation on a vehicle parked in the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport parking lot. The Citation with a notice of abandonment was sent to the registered owner.
  • 2:25 p.m. An Officer issued a Citation on a vehicle parked in the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport parking lot. The Citation with a notice of abandonment was sent to the registered owner.
  • 2:49 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

Saturday, March 5:

  • 12:42 a.m. The Emergency Medical Services team responded to a 911 call on Eighth Street.  The patient was transported to Cordova Community Medical Center.
  • 12:09 p.m. An Officer responded to a report of vandalism.
  • 1:33 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.
  • 2:26 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.

Sunday, March 6:

  • 11:50 a.m. Two individuals came to the station to report a motor vehicle accident on LeFevre Avenue.
  • 12:18 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 61 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.
  • 1:41 p.m. Dispatch received a 911 report of smoke coming from a power pole on the I Float. The Harbor Master was notified. 
  • 1:57 p.m. An Officer issued a Citation on a vehicle parked in the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport parking lot. The Citation with a notice of abandonment was sent to the registered owner.
  • 2:00 p.m. An Officer issued a Citation on a vehicle parked in the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport parking lot. The Citation with a notice of abandonment was sent to the registered owner.
  • 2:03 p.m. An Officer issued a Citation on a vehicle parked in the Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport parking lot. The Citation with a notice of abandonment was sent to the registered owner.
  • 2:30 p.m. An Officer conducted security surveillance for flight 66 at Merle K. Mudhole Smith Airport.
  • 2:35 p.m. Dispatch received a report of a missing dog. 3:25 p.m. The Caller reported the dog was found.
  • 3:35 p.m. Dispatch received a report of a vehicle broken down in the middle of Mile 9 Copper River Highway.
  • 4:17 p.m. The Emergency Medical Services team, the Fire Department, and an Officer responded to a 911 report of a vehicle in the ditch at Mile 4 Copper River Highway. The driver was not at the scene upon arrival. 4:31 p.m. The driver was located and found safe with minimal injuries. 4:34 p.m. First Responders were notified to stand down. 4:39 p.m. The Department of Transportation responded to sand the road at the accident site. 5:01 p.m. The driver self-transported to the Cordova Community Medical Center. 5:04 p.m. Alaska State Trooper reported the roadway open, and the vehicle clear of the fog line.
  • 9:53 p.m. An Officer responded to an anonymous report.
