4th quarter begins

Cordova School District’s fourth quarter begins Monday, March 21.

Volleyball

City league volleyball will be 7-9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, March 21-April 27, at the Cordova Jr. Sr. High gymnasium. Teams of six or more must sign up by March 20 by calling or texting Toni at 907-429-8664 or Grace Lee at 218-340-9758. Cost is $25 per player. Must have clean, non-marking gym shoes.

Food Pantry

The next food distribution will from 4-6 p.m. Monday, March 21, at the Salvation Army food pantry at 514 First St. Primary distribution is the third Monday of each month. If you need food assistance or are interested in volunteering, please contact Katherine Mead at 907-429-7177. Non-perishable food donations can be dropped in the donation box at AC Value Center.

Pizza and 3D movie night

The Cordova Arts and Pageants is showing “DUNE – It Begins” in 3D at 7 p.m. Friday, March 25, at the North Start Theater. Admission by donation. Pizza by the Little Cordova Bakery will be for sale (free for teens) between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. before the movie begins.

State holiday

Seward’s Day is Monday, March 28.

Tiny Dancers

Join Current Rhythms for their first all-studio performance in two years, presenting Tiny Dancers, a Rock Ballet at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at the North Star Theater. Tickets are on sale now at The Net Loft and will be available at the door as well a viewing option via live stream. Babies in arms are free. Masks optional. Special guest alumni appearances, dessert auction fundraiser and cake by Diane Ujioka to celebrate 25 years of dance and yoga classes in Cordova.

Student Art Show

Cordova Museum’s Copper River Gallery presents a Student Art Show by Mt. Eccles Elementary School from April 1-30. Opening reception is 5-6 p.m. Friday, April 1, followed by the movie “Encanto” at 6 p.m. in the North Star Theater.

Small Glories live concert

Canadian folk singer-songwriter duo, The Small Glories, will play live 7 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the North Star Theater. Visit the band page at thesmallglories.com.

Copper River Royal

Cordova’s high-fashion gala, Dressed to Kill, is back this year with the theme Copper River Royal. Funds raised will go towards Alaska Adventure Learning, a Cordova summer camp program. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, at The Reluctant Fisherman with ladies only from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and gentlemen welcome after 11 p.m. Tickets now available for purchase at The Reluctant.

March Book Madness

The Cordova School District is hosting a free book giveaway. New books for all ages are available now through March downstairs at Mt. Eccles Elementary School district office on Second Street, left of the bus loading zone. Stop by during regular office hours before spring break and load up on great reading materials. Donations accepted.

Art show

Friends of the Sound, a display of original artworks by Skyler Lewis is on display now through March 26 at the Copper River Gallery.

Monthly Poetry Showcase

Cordova Public Library’s Monthly Poetry Showcase meets the last Friday of each month at 6 p.m. via Zoom. At the start of each month a theme is announced. Support Group

CCMC is looking to start a support group for individuals identifying within the LGBTQ community and/or parents of those identifying within the LGBTQ community.
