Ocean Based Businesses Beach Meet & Greet

Calling all direct marketers, oyster farmers, fishermen, kelp farmers, ocean-based businesses and ocean artists and makers, join the Cordova Chamber of Commerce from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at Harney Bay beach fire pit. Bring something that showcases your work, whether it be your catch, artistry or other ocean-based work.

Fisher Poets

Steve Schoonmaker is hosting a Fisher Poets gathering starting at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Northstar Theater.

Hurtigruten Cruise Line visit

A Hurtigruten Cruise Line ship will visit Cordova from 2-10 p.m., Monday, May 30.

Connecting in Cordova

A business networking event hosted by the Alaska Chamber will be held 4:30-6 p.m., Friday, June 3, at the Reluctant Fisherman Inn. The event is part of the Alaska Chamber’s annual Community Outreach Trip. Attendees are asked to RSVP to annie@alaskachamber.com.

Copper River Nouveau online auction

Everyone is invited to participate in the PWSSC’s online auction at https://pwssc.ejoinme.org/MyEvents/CopperRiverNouveau2022. Bidding opens at noon on Tuesday, May 31 and closes at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 4.

PWSSC ribbon cutting event

The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, June 4 at the PWSSC’s new waterfront campus out Orca Road. Free cake, beverages and self-guided tours follow the ceremony. Masks required inside the building.

Kids Summer Meal Program

Starting June 1 through Aug. 5, all kids ages 0-18 are welcome to free meals at Mt. Eccles Elementary School cafeteria. Breakfast is available 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and lunch 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Summer Reading Program

Signup now for the Cordova Public Library’s Summer Reading Program for ages K-6 starting June 8 through July 27. All youth may participate in Summer Reading and attending Wednesday programs from 1-2:30 p.m. is not required. For more information, call 907-424-6667.

The Hospital Auxiliary used book sale is through May 9 in the basement of the hospital. There are lots of books as well as puzzles, videos and music that are looking for a new home.

Student Art Show

Cordova Museum’s Copper River Gallery presents a Student Art Show by Mt. Eccles Elementary School through April 30. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.
