Three Don Young staff join Murkowski in DC

Three former members of the late Rep. Don Young’s staff – Kevin Swanson, Michael Songer and Lauren Noland – have joined the Washington D.C. office of Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, the senator announced in mid-August.

Swanson will serve as a legislative assistant in the personal office, handling transportation, telecommunications and financial services He had been a legislative assistant for Young, handling his transportation and infrastructure portfolio.

Songer will serve as a staff member for the Committee on Indian Affairs, for which Murkowski is vice president. He previously served as a senior legislative assistant for Young and as a legislative fellow for Sen. Cory Booker, D-New Jersey. Songer also had served in the U.S. Air Force as a Security Forces member, with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan Noland will be a staff assistant in Murkowski’s personal office. She was previously a legislative correspondent for Young. She is a U.S. Army veteran, military spouse and mother of five from Chugiak.
