Fechter replaces Mitchell at Revenue Department

Deputy Revenue Commissioner Brian Fechter has been named acting commissioner for the state agency, filling the vacancy created when Deven Mitchell left that post to become executive director of the Alaska Permanent Fund Corp.

Fechter has been a state employee since 2013, serving in various positions at the Office of Management and Budget, Department of Health and Social Services and most recently as deputy commissioner for the Department of Revenue. He has a master’s degree in financial services from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA.

Fechter moved to the state in 2012 after having worked for the Walt Disney Company in Orlando, FL, and PNC Bank in Pittsburgh, Pa. He also serves on the State Bond Committee, Alaska Municipal Bond Bank Board and the Governor’s Advisory Council on Opioid Remediation.
