Long-time Department of Labor employee Cathy Muñoz was named acting commissioner of that department on Tuesday, filling the vacancy left by the resignation of Commissioner Tamika Ledbetter earlier in the day. Gov. Mike Dunleavy announced the appointment.
Ledbetter had served in that post since the beginning of the Dunleavy administration in 2018. She said she is looking forward to spending more time with her family and traveling.
Muñoz has also been with the department since 2018 as its deputy commissioner. She represented Juneau for four terms in the Alaska House of Representatives and three terms on the city and borough of Juneau Assembly.
