CHS boys extend winning streak

The Cordova High School boys finished their basketball trip on the road with a pair of wins over conference foes SuValley and Effie Kokrine.

On Jan. 30, they topped SuValley 48-34. Jaykob Thorne led the winning effort with 17 points and 9 rebounds.

On Feb. 1, the Wolverines cruised by Fairbanks’ Effie Kokrine, 60-47. Wolverine Noah Pearson exploded with 25 points, including five three-pointers.

The 2A CHS boys have now won nine games in a row.

That streak will be sorely tested in their next games, which are at the Valdez Elks Tournament on Feb. 9-11. The challenging three-day invitational traditionally includes top 3A and a few 4A teams from all over the state.
