CHS teams face tough competition in Valdez

The 44th Annual Valdez Elks Tournament is underway, and as expected, the Cordova teams will face tough competition.

Boys first round action began Thursday, and the Cordova boys faced highly regarded Barrow at 5:30 p.m. Winner advances to play the winner of the 8:30 p.m. game between Valdez and Redington, loser will pair off against the loser of Cordova-Barrow contest.

The other side of the boys’ bracket pairs Seward versus North Pole and Mt. Edgecumbe versus Delta.

On the girls’ side, Cordova faced Seward at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, and Valdez met Redington at 7:00 p.m. Winners and losers will pair up Friday.

The other side of the girls bracket pairs Barrow with North Pole and Wasilla with Delta.
