Five seats up for grabs in the Cordova Regular Election

A handful of seats will be on the ballot for the Cordova Regular Election on March 7.

On the Cordova City Council, Seat B and Seat C are up for grabs. Each seat is one regular three-year term.

Cordovans will also have the opportunity to elect one school board member this cycle for one regular three-year term.

In addition, there are two Cordova Community Medical Center seats on the ballot. One is for a regular three-year term, and the other is for a regular two-year term.

Early voting at the Cordova Center is taking place now through March 6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

To apply for an absentee ballot online, submit a request to the City Clerk by email at cityclerk@cityofcordova.net. To request an absentee application by mail, send a request to City Clerk, City of Cordova, PO Box 1210, Cordova, AK 99574. Mailed applications must be postmarked and received by the office no later than Feb. 28.

Absentee applications are available on the city website. Absentee ballot application may also be requested in person at the early voting site.

Absentee ballots cast by mail must be postmarked on or before March 21, or deposited in the drop box by the close of polls on Election Day.

A qualified voter who is unable to go to a polling place to vote because of disability, infirmity or confinement may vote absentee by special needs ballot. The voter may, through a representative, request a special needs ballot from an election official on election day.
