A mariner aboard the NOAA research vessel Oscar Dyson was medevacked by the Coast Guard on Tuesday, Feb. 14, after reporting to have experienced medical complications.
The 54-year-old patient was transported by an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew to awaiting emergency medical service personnel at Sand Point.
The Coast Guard said they responded after the 17th District Command Center received a medevac request from the NOAA crew for the ailing patient.
The aircrew arrived on the scene, some 18 miles south of Chignik Bay, and transported the patient to safety.
The weather during the time of the rescue was 20-knot winds and eight-foot seas.
