By Tammy and Russ Allen

Sylvia Allen passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 17, at the age of 88. She lived a very full life.

She was born in Valdez, Alaska in 1934 where she was raised; the eldest of three girls. When she was 10 the family moved to Tatitlek.

She was very responsible at a young age, helping care for her sisters and her Umma and Uppa. She also discovered her passion for knitting at a young age, and was known all her life for her amazing work. Many family members and friends were the recipients of her beautiful gifts.

She married the love of her life, George Allen, and they raised a family of three boys. When they moved to Cordova, Sylvia worked hard alongside her husband commercial fishing. They raised their boys on the boat, teaching them all aspects of the commercial fishing industry.

Sylvia was also a wonderful homemaker, entertaining friends and family on a regular basis. She loved to have dinner parties and she was a fabulous cook.
