Joseph James Cahill of Cordova, Alaska, passed from this life on April 30, 2023 in Anchorage, Alaska. He is remembered by many friends and family members around the country.

Born on Aug. 21, 1970, to Joseph and Judith (Cormier) Cahill in Norwood, Massachusetts, Joe lived a life on the move. Growing up, the family regularly traveled to innumerable parts of the U.S. and Canada, and eventually settled in Alaska, where he continued his own journey to various parts. His family grew when his father remarried Alma Tyson and they had more siblings for Joe to love and be loved by.

Joe saw the world in his own way, and is remembered as a creative and open soul, as well as a mentor, kind neighbor and friend, including to animals.

He was preceded in death by his father; niece, Erin; and other extended family members. He is survived by his mothers, Judith and Alma; sisters, Judy (Michael) Derby of Weymouth, Massachusetts, Jessica (Tor) Nelson of Bastrop, Texas, and Jo-Anne (Brad) Johnson of Beaverton, Oregon; brothers, Thomas (Kathryn) Cahill and Peter (Mercedes) Cahill, both of Anchorage; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles throughout the U.S.

His ashes will be spread in his beloved Cordova by family and friends in a private ceremony.
