Salmon Jam: Get ready to rock the hill
Cordova, are you ready to rock the hill!? It’s Salmon Jam time once again! Hard to believe what started out 22 years ago on a rainy evening in the warehouse out at Orca Cannery is now a full-blown festival where participants get to enjoy great life music while taking in local artisan market vendors along with delicious local fare.

This year’s Copper River Salmon Jam festival will be a weeklong event from July 11-16, with events spread out around Cordova. Festival events will include: Alaska Salmon Runs Races, Small Fry Kids’ Activities, Salmon Jam Rock Garden, Dumpster Painting, Taste of Cordova Community Potluck, Artisan Market and live music by local acts around town throughout the week.
CDFU will share donated salmon with elders on July 6
Cordova District Fishermen United will hold its annual Senior Salmon Day 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at the Union Hall on Main Street. CDFU will share donated fillets of wild Alaska salmon with seniors aged 60 years and older.
Celebrate the Fourth of July at the Grassy Field in Cordova
The Cordova Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Old Time Fourth of July Celebration noon on Monday, July 4, at Hollis Henrichs Park. This Cordova event will include a variety of activities and competitions, food vendors, an artisan market, and live folk music.
Salmon Jam kicks off July 11 in Cordova
The Copper River Salmon Jam planning committee announced that this year’s Salmon Jam events in Cordova will begin on July 11, spread out around town, with live music scheduled on the evenings of July 15 and 16 at Mt. Eyak Ski Area. Cordova Arts & Pageants will host local musicians on the Salmon Jam stage, along with this year’s headliner, alt rock, avant-garde Alaska band, Zen Trembles.
