Fisher named to Permanent Fund board

Gov. Bill Walker has appointed Alaska Department of Administration Commissioner Sheldon Fisher to a cabinet member’s seat on the board of the Alaska Permanent Fund Corp.

The six-member board sets policy for the corporation and manages assets of the Permanent Fund and other funds designated by law, including the Alaska Mental Health Trust Fund.

Fisher has more than 20 years experience in private sector management, most recently as chief operating officer for McKinley Capital Management in Anchorage.

Prior to McKinley, he spent 15 years in the telecommunications industry, including six years as senior vice president of sales and marketing at Alaska Communications. Fisher holds an economics degree from Brigham Young University and a law degree from Yale.
