Fick joins ABSC

Tyson Fick, who has led communications efforts for the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute for several years, will become the executive director of Alaska Bering Sea Crabbers on Dec. 1.

Fick will bring to the organization “tremendous skills in seafood marketing and policy advocoacy,” said ABSC President Kale Garcia. “We are looking forward to having him aboard.”

For the past six years Fick has been the director of communications for ASMI.

Prior to that he was the legislative liaison for the Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development, and before that a legislative staffer.

Fick holds a degree in business administration and marketing from Washington State University.

His office will be in Juneau. ABSC maintains its main office in Seattle.

Fick said he feels this is an exciting opportunity “to work in an iconic fishery with some really smart and talented people.

“Consumer demand has never been stronger; Alaska crab is well known to be the best in the world,” he said. “I’m looking forward to taking on new challenges and advancing the goals and priorities of ABSC.”
