Karl Becker opening

The opening reception for Cordova watercolor artist Karl Becker’s show is from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 7 at the Copper River Gallery at the Cordova Museum. The show will last several weeks. The Cordova Museum is open
10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and noon – 5 p.m. Saturdays.

‘Star Wars – Rogue 1’

The Cordova Junior/Senior High School tech club will show  “Star Wars – Rogue 1” Saturday, April 8. Two showings of the latest Star Wars movie will be held at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the North Star Theatre of the Cordova Center.

Cordova Clean-Up

Meet at the Cordova Center Saturday, April 15 at 10 a.m. to pick up garbage bags, gloves and area assignments. A free picnic for volunteers will follow at noon. Contact the Cordova Chamber of Commerce at 424-7260.

Beaded glass ball class

Learn how to make beaded glass balls with local artist Chris Belgarde. The class will be 5-8 p.m. April 14-15 in the Ilanka Cultural Center. $25 to enroll. Must provide own beads, ICC has some small glass balls for sale. For more information or to sign up, call Brooke Johnson at (907) 424-7903.

Electronics recycling

An electronics recycling drive will take place April 20-23, on the city lot where aluminum cans and cardboard are currently being accepted, with the electronics Conex open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and locked evenings. All electronics with a cord or battery are accepted!  For more information please call Native Village of Eyak at 424-7738.

Cordova Community Health Fair

The Cordova Community Health Fair is set for 8 a.m.-noon April 22 at the Cordova Jr./Sr. High School gymnasium. This is a community-wide event for all ages and a great opportunity to get annual blood work done.

CHS book sale

Cordova High School is selling used library books for $1 a bag. The sale will be held from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. every Saturday in April at Cordova High School’s ILP Building.

Call for artists

Cordova Museum is asking for submissions to the annual Birds of Paradise show. The deadline to submit framed work to the museum is April 29. The exhibition will be open from May 4 through June 30. Contact the museum at 907-424-6665 for more information.
