January is National Radon Action Month

January is National Radon Action Month, when the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency joins with state, tribal and local public health agencies to encourage all Americans to test their homes for radon.

In an announcement on Jan. 4, the EPA notes that exposure to radon in indoor air is the second leading cause of lung cancer.

“Testing is inexpensive and test kits are readily available and easy to use,” said Jon Edwards, director of EPA’s Office of Radiation and Indoor Air.
