Juneau Fire Marshall Jager wins international credentials

Fire Marshal Daniel Jager of Juneau’s Capital City Fire Rescue has been awarded the professional designation of “Chief Fire Officer” from the Commission on Professional Credentialing, an entity of the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

The CFO designation program is a voluntary one designed to recognize individuals who demonstrate their excellence in seven measured components, including experience, education, professional development, professional contributions, association memberships, community involvement and technical competence.  All applicants are required, also, to identify a future professional development plan.

Jager, a graduate of Cordova Junior/Senior High School, also studied fire science at the University of Alaska Fairbanks in the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program, and holds a bachelor of science in fire administration degree from Columbia Southern University in Miani Lakes, FL.

“This is a big accomplishment that could not have been achieved by myself,” Jager posted on his Facebook page in late July. “I have a very long list of mentors, friends and family that were part of this. I have learned through their triumphs, challenges, successes and setbacks.”

In addition to his wife, Kristina, and immediate family, Jager said he wanted to thank the Cordova Volunteer Fire Department, North Star Volunteer Fire Department, Steese Volunteer Fire Department, Alyeska Marine Terminal, the state of Alaska Fire Marshal’s office and Capital City Fire Rescue.
