The Alaska State Fire Marshal’s office wants you to check your smoke detectors this weekend.
As we roll back the clock one hour when Daylight Savings Time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, the fire marshal’s office says it’s a great time to remember to check your smoke alarms batteries twice yearly.
“As you may already know the Fire Service uses the time change that happens twice a year as a prompt to change your smoke alarm batteries,” wrote Michael Warzewick, public education coordinator for the Office of the Alaska State Fire Marshall in a statement Friday. “When you rollback your clocks, take the time to also test and change out the batteries in smoke alarms.”
