Nikiski resident, Ms. Mary Margaret Ritter, 89, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017 at Peninsula Memorial Chapel, 5839 Kenai Spur Hwy – Kenai.  Funeral Mass was held 12:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 225 South Spruce in Kenai.   Father Tom Rush, O.M.I. officiated.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband John following services at the Spruce Grove Memorial Park in Kasilof.  A reception followed at the Catholic Church.

Mary was born March 16, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  She moved to Alaska in 1955 living in Bethel, Galina, McGrath, Illiamna, Nenanna, Juneau, Cordova and finally Nikiski.

The family wrote, “Mary enjoyed her life in Alaska, her Catholic faith and involvement with her family and friends.  She especially looked forward to her trips to Las Vegas to spend time with her children. Mary loved her pets and feeding of wild birds. She is missed by her loyal dog Sammy, who never left her side.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ritter; sons, John Ritter, Joe Ritter, and Michael Ritter.

She is survived by her daughters, Bernadette Chumley of Woodland, WA, Theresa Harris of Clam Gulch, AK, Lucy Ritter of Nikiski, AK and Kathleen Janin of Houston, TX; son, Peter Ritter of Soldotna, AK.
